Chinese New Year

It was the Chinese New Year on Saturday. I had decided that this would be the change of luck for us, so I wore red to frighten away the evil spirits. It is now the Year of the Pig - I really need to look up what exactly that means for the year! Maybe it has already started to be more lucky for us as the BF had an interview today for a job he REALLY wants and he thought it went well. He said that they are only interviewing four people and he will find out on Friday if he gets a second interview! I really hope he gets it. I posted my Celtic swap package yesterday and also my mushroom swap package, but I won't be revealing any spoilers just yet - I don't want to ruin the surprise!

Snow Day!

Hurray! It has snowed here!!! Yesterday was a snow day and school was called off, so after my 7.00am call from the school I got up, and the BF and I went to the park with Joe and threw snowballs at him! Silly dog thought they were balls and kept trying to catch them! He loved it! We threw snowballs at the neighbours children whilst they made snowmen! I love the snow - the first day of a snowfall is wonderful - it makes everything seem so pure and clean. I went back to school today and the students all told me how they went and built snowmen and had snowball fights on the Racecourse. Some of them have never seen snow before - some of the younger Malaysian ones. I was quite productive - I made some stuff for a Celtic swap I'm doing, reconned a tee and a skirt and repaired a bag :-)

The main thing about the BF being made redundant (after the lack of money, obviously) is that he is always around - my routine has been disrupted - I have been used to him leaving the house at 5.45am and returning at about 2.15pm. Now he is here all the time. I don't resent him being here, but I do resent the lack of solice, if that makes sense. I get no time to myself and I always have to wear the supportive positive face, when all I want to do is shout, swear or hide.

Joe has had some problems with peeling lips recently - I think he has overdone it on a bone, piggy! We'll keep an eye on him and see whether he needs to go to the vets. I received a couple of cat toy balls as part of a swap, Pippin loves them, the others haven't had a chance yet! *lol*

Chinese New Year!

Right, I have decided that the "luck" year runs to the Chinese New Year! The BF's job was a non starter and only lasted 2 days, so we are officially broke! This inevitably means that I will have to ease up on the swapping for the time being, till he finds gainful employment again. Dammit! Oh well, I will have to concentrate on money-making crafts for now. This is a good opportunity for me to develop my shops now I suppose! I have put a few things in my Etsy shop this week and a few things in my eBay shop. I've got a few things that I am working on for swaps that I had already signed up for before the redundancy, a Celtic Swap and a mushroom swap, which I am having to be very resourceful for, as I can't buy any new materials (craft supplies or food - tough choice!) but I see it as a de-stashing exercise! I have made the nicest silk painting and a crocheted bag, along with some other bits and pieces, but I won't post piccies just yet, in case my swap partners are reading! Chinese New year is in a week or so, so I'm determined that our luck will definately improve then!

Here are some of the pieces I have put in my shop!
