Catching Up

Well, we have now set a date for the funeral; Tuesday 10th June at 12 o'clock. Think of us then and send some happy thoughts our way if you can. We've decided not to have flowers at the funeral but are going to donate a bench to the cemetery in memory of Dad. He has a lovely spot next to the green burial area, overlooking trees and flowers so it'll be a nice place for Mum to sit and talk to him, and also for anyone else who visits the cemetery. We've told everyone who's asked us about flowers what we'd like to do and they've all agreed that it's a lovely idea and are going to also donate towards it. Dad loved the countryside and he'd certainly approve.
I realised the other day that I still have some projects to post piccies of, so here goes:
Karan had my tree art on her Wists, so I drew this for her on watercolour board in technical drawing pen and watercolour pencils. The leaves are outlined in gold.

I also needle felted her a star brooch in turquoise, with beads and sequins on. I liked it so much that I made one for myself too in purple.

I made a bookmark to go with the mushroom package that I sent to Angels walk. The metallic sheet is actually the inside of a tomato puree tube that I cut open and drew on the back of with an embossing tool. The inside of the tube is a lovely copper colour, probably from the tomato paste - you know how that stuff stains. It looks like that expensive embossing metal sheet that you can buy, but it's free and it's recycling - yay!

I finally got around to soldering that piece of glass given to me by a friend and made this pendant. I love the fossil image on it. The other side is really smooth and tactile, like a worry stone.

I have sort of been back at work for the last couple of days. The first day is the hardest, but I guess it's getting easier. I'm still liable to burst into tears at any given moment though; particularly when people are talking about their dads. School has finished now, all the students are on exam leave; college is starting to wind down, courses are finishing slowly. Pretty soon it'll be time to find some temp work to keep me going for the summer. The curse of the hourly paid teacher eh?
